Can I reformat my HP Compaq computer without a recovery disk?

I can't find my recovery disk and I need to reformat my computer (it has a keylogger). If I can't reformat it without the disk, can I download the recovery disk from somewhere?

It's an XP, not a Vista.

There is usually a start menu program for recovery manager or something similar. Also, if you watch when you turn your computer on, there should be an option for an F-key to press (F10, F12, etc). Otherwise, you can order a new set of cd's from HP.
