LCD Monitors in late 90s?

Were LCD Computer monitors really expensive back in the late 90s. I got a NEC Multisync LCD monitor at a tag sale. On the back it says December 1998!

Yes, When they first came out, they cost alot more than they do today, same thing with CRT Monitors.
