I have a 1yr old gateway with windows vista and a 42" brand new LCD insigina. I plugged the VGA cable to both and the windows screen will appear, but then it goes to "not supported". if I connect the cable to a laptop to the tv it works,
It's your screen settings (resolution) that's not supported. Change your resolution to that of the laptop.
