Can you use a computers Hard disc drive on a playstation 3?

my ps3 ran out of memory on its hard disc drive and I was wondering if I bought a 2TB internal Hard disc Drive for a computer or laptop would it work the same? please help me out on this one I really need more memory.

PS3 accepts only a

2.5" LAPTOP SATA HARD DRIVE RUNNING AT 5400RPM (MAX SIZE 250GB-500GB).

If it doesnt meet the above it will cause compatability issues and damage your PS3. So it has to be 2.5" laptop, not a normal
