What are the ideal image settings for the ASUS VH242H monitor?

I know that they change with desktop environment, but I'm just wondering what you use. The default settings seem to be very bright for me, and I'm not getting great results with image calibration software and sites.

The 'native' resolution of the monitor is 1920×1080. This is the resolution that the monitor is designed for and works best at, but you can change it to fit your needs as needed.
