I have a question for someone who lives in or knows NYC?

I am spending the weekend in NYC (2 blocks from Penn Station) and want to use the subway to get to certain places, but for the life of me I can't figure out the train schedule. I just need to know if I can get within 1/2 mile (give or take) of the following
Within a half mile of Penn Station are the Empire State Building at 34thstrret and Fifth Ave, obviously Fifth Avenue, but the best shopping is from 42d street up, Roche feller Center is at 53d and Fifth.
Times Square is at 42d and 7th
